Parking an RV at home in Kelowna
Kelowna limits both street parking and the number of RVs on a residential lot:
- Street time limit: the Traffic Bylaw (No. 8120) prohibits parking on a street, or on the same block, for more than 24 continuous hours.
- Sleeping on the street: parking on a street to take up temporary residence is prohibited between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.
- Trailers: a trailer may not be left on a street without its tow vehicle properly attached.
- General placement: not within 3 m of a driveway, 10 m of an intersection or 5 m of a fire hydrant.
- Your property: Zoning Bylaw No. 12375, section 3.3, allows no more than two recreational vehicles to be stored outdoors on a lot in a rural residential, single and two dwelling, or agricultural zone, and prohibits parking or storing an RV over 5,500 kg licensed gross vehicle weight on a lot in a residential zone. We did not confirm the front-yard and setback rules, so check the full bylaw or ask the city.
Sources: City of Kelowna Traffic Bylaw No. 8120, Part 4 and Zoning Bylaw No. 12375, checked Oct 26, 2026. City rules change, so confirm with the city before relying on this.
Where the storage is
Facilities labelled Kelowna and West Kelowna are inside the city. Lake Country and Winfield are north of Kelowna and Vernon is further north. We have not measured drive distances, so use the Get directions link on each listing to check the drive from your home. With a 24-hour street limit and a two-RV cap per lot, owners in the central Okanagan often use a yard outside the core.
