Parking an RV at home in Montréal
Montréal's rules are set borough by borough, so check your own borough. The city's general guidance is that boats, canoes and trailers must be kept in side or rear yards, in parking spaces set up on the lot, and storage in front of the building is prohibited in most boroughs. Examples from the city:
- Anjou: one recreational vehicle, caravan or trailer for personal use in a rear or side yard; maximum height 3 m for an RV and 2 m for a trailer; up to 48 consecutive hours, twice a season, in any parking space; front-yard parking space allowed May 1 to September 30.
- Lachine: a recreational vehicle may be stored up to 8 months if it is no more than 7.2 m long and is not lived in.
- Verdun: in a rear or side yard parking space, 0.45 m from the curb, for equipment up to 3,000 kg.
- Outremont: boats, canoes and trailers are not allowed in front of the residence.
The city's page does not cover on-street limits; call 311 (514-872-0311 from outside Montréal) for your borough.

Where the storage is
The first group covers the island of Montréal, including Lachine, and Laval. The second group is the wider region: Saint-Jérôme and Mirabel to the north, L'Assomption to the northeast, Saint-Hubert on the South Shore, Vaudreuil-Dorion to the west and Saint-Gilbert and Saint-Mathias-sur-Richelieu further out. We have not measured drive distances, so use the Get directions link on each listing. Many owners store outside the island, where yards are larger.
